His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan Government, Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Huwaij, received this morning at the ministry’s headquarters in the city of Benghazi the President of the International Organization for Journalism and Media in the Netherlands, Mr. Khaled Bakdash. During the meeting, a number of issues of mutual interest were discussed, foremost among them the pivotal role of professional media in supporting national causes and consolidating responsible media discourse, in addition to discussing prospects for developing cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the International Organization for Journalism and Media, particularly in the fields of external media and international communication. In this context, the Minister emphasized the importance of the media as a strategic tool for conveying the true image of Libya to international public opinion, stressing the necessity of adhering to the highest standards of professionalism and credibility and supporting national efforts aimed at enhancing stability and building state institutions. For his part, the President of the International Organization for Journalism and Media expressed appreciation for the warm reception, praising the role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and confirming the organization’s readiness to strengthen joint cooperation in ways that support Libyan media and develop its presence at regional and international levels.
