Cairo – EngyEssa
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Kamel Rawi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Engy Lotfy, Director of the Training Unit at Capital Media, honored Dr. Khaled Bakdash, President of the International Organization for Journalism and Media – Netherlands (IPMO), in recognition of his support for the “Your Awareness Is Not Artificial” initiative launched by the unit and his contribution to activating its first international training partnership.
The collaboration is designed to expand opportunities for professional training and strengthen communication between students, international media professionals, and leading media institutions.
The first international cooperation initiative between the Training Unit at Capital Media, the International Organization for Journalism and Media – Netherlands, and the Netherlands News Agency featured a specialized workshop titled “Modern Journalism Strategies and Enhancing Credibility in the Digital Age.”
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Khaled Bakdash to Capital Media students via video conference and explored the major transformations taking place in journalism in the digital environment. It highlighted the importance of maintaining journalistic credibility, developing modern newsroom and reporting tools, and ensuring the professional and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies in journalism.
As part of his support for the students, Dr. Khaled Bakdash presented them with a specialized guide featuring a range of tools for detecting manipulated and fake images and videos. The guide is intended to strengthen students’ digital verification skills and enhance their ability to identify and responsibly handle misleading media content.
The honoring of Dr. Khaled Bakdash reflects the Training Unit’s appreciation for his response to the “Your Awareness Is Not Artificial” initiative and for turning that engagement into a practical training partnership that connects academic education with professional practice. The initiative also provides students with access to international media expertise while strengthening media cooperation with the Netherlands News Agency.
The Training Unit at Capital Media emphasized that international cooperation is a key component of its training strategy. Through such partnerships, the unit seeks to expose students to diverse professional experiences, strengthen their practical skills, and prepare them to meet the evolving requirements of the modern media and journalism job market.
The unit continues to implement the “Your Awareness Is Not Artificial” initiative through a series of activities and workshops aimed at strengthening digital awareness, information-verification skills, and critical engagement with manipulated content and artificial intelligence technologies.
The initiative promotes a core principle:
“Verify before you believe. Think before you publish.”
Further training activities are expected to take place in the coming period as part of the international cooperation framework, in line with the Training Unit at Capital Media’s vision:
“We Learn. We Create. We Make an Impact.”
Through these initiatives, the unit seeks to consolidate its role as a bridge between academic education, professional practice, and international media expertise, giving students the skills, knowledge, and global exposure needed to navigate the rapidly changing media landscape.
