The International Center for Combating Media Disinformation (ICCMD) has announced the development of an advanced technology platform for monitoring and analyzing digital content, alongside the launch of the International Charter for Media Integrity and Combating Disinformation. The initiatives are among the key strategic projects approved by the Center’s Board of Directors at its inaugural meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and attended by Khaled Bekdash, President of the International Organization for Press and Media – Netherlands; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Araimi, Vice Chairman for International Affairs; Dr. Younes Moujahid, Vice Chairman for North Africa; Tariq Al-Moumeni, Vice Chairman for the Levant; Fadila Al-Maini, Vice Chairwoman for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States; Rabia Hussein Makki Al Jomaa, Vice Chairwoman for Programs and Development; Fawaz Ahmed Suleiman, Vice Chairman for Corporate Communications and Media; and Sultan Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Center.

The technology platform is designed to establish advanced technical and professional capabilities for monitoring and analyzing digital media content. Its functions will include analyzing keywords, topics, and media narratives; examining content-distribution patterns, trends, and indicators; supporting data-analysis processes; and leveraging artificial intelligence technologies alongside professional expertise.

In parallel with its technological development, the Center is launching the International Charter for Media Integrity and Combating Disinformation. The Charter aims to establish an international network bringing together media organizations, professional bodies, academic institutions, and research organizations around shared principles and standards for media integrity, verification, and professional responsibility.

Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said:

“Our ambition is to build an effective international center that brings together media and technological expertise with institutional action, while developing initiatives capable of keeping pace with the rapidly evolving media environment. The launch of the International Charter represents an important step toward building cross-border professional cooperation and bringing institutions and media professionals together around shared principles of media integrity and responsibility.”

Al Shaiji added:

“Combating media disinformation requires the integration of expertise and partnerships among media, professional, and academic institutions, alongside investment in modern technologies and tools capable of monitoring and analyzing content and disinformation patterns and addressing them with professionalism.”

Sultan Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Center, presented an overview of ICCMD’s operational and technological vision, highlighting an integrated digital platform currently under development to support the Center’s media and digital content monitoring, analysis, and verification activities.

The platform’s capabilities will include real-time monitoring; analysis of keywords, topics, and media narratives; examination of content-distribution patterns, trends, and indicators; support for verification and data-analysis processes; and the use of artificial intelligence technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of monitoring and analytical operations.

With the Board of Directors’ approval of the Center’s key priorities and strategic projects for the next phase, ICCMD is entering a new stage of institutional development. Building on the expertise of its members and their regional and international networks, the Center aims to establish strategic partnerships and launch high-impact initiatives that strengthen its presence and contribution to combating media disinformation at both the regional and international levels.
