Three Lebanese journalists were killed early Friday in an Israeli airstrike that targeted their residence while they were sleeping in the town of Hasbaya in southern Lebanon. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the incident, saying it was part of a series of war crimes committed by the Israeli enemy.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli army launched a series of raids on various areas in southern Lebanon on Thursday evening and Friday morning, killing and wounding people, including journalists, and destroying four buildings.

The Lebanese Al-Mayadeen channel reported that among the dead were photographer Ghassan Najjar and broadcast engineer Mohammad Reda, who worked for the channel, and photographer Wissam Qassem, who worked for the Al-Manar channel affiliated with Hezbollah.

Journalists at the scene said that the strike directly targeted the residence.

Mikati believed that the goal of the “deliberate aggression… is to terrorize the media to cover up the crimes and destruction being committed.”
